Research Question
Who were the people and what were the institutions that helped facilitate lexicography in the nineteenth century? This project investigates the people who acted as ‘connectors’ and the institutions that were ‘hubs’ for communication, support, and dialogue amongst dictionary makers in America, Britain, Europe, Asia and beyond. By applying digital humanities, network analysis, and graph theory our research reveals surprising results that move the spotlight away from the likely suspects.
